A Year of Opportunities: How PRSA-SF is Helping PR Pros Thrive in 2025

Posted on Jan. 30, 2025  /  0

With January in the books, it is clear that 2025 will be a defining year for communicators—and an interesting time to lead PRSA-SF.

Last year, we made incredible strides to bolster our chapter’s community through newsroom tours, discussions with media insiders, and opportunities to grow as PR professionals. This year, we’re building on that foundation with even more ways to connect, learn, and lead in a rapidly evolving industry.

At the same time, we cannot ignore the rapidly evolving PR landscape. Mis- and disinformation continue to spread at an alarming rate, fueled by divisive rhetoric from influential voices. The rollback of DEI initiatives in government and corporate spaces threatens years of progress for ethnic minority groups, the LGBTQIA+ community, and others who have fought for visibility and equity. Newsrooms are shrinking and new players are emerging.

As communicators, we are the stewards of truth, the amplifiers of diverse voices, and the architects of narratives that shape public understanding.

That’s why this year, PRSA-SF will double down on initiatives that keep us informed, engaged, and ready to lead. We’re bringing back our newsroom tours, expanding our Third Thursday mixers, revamping the Foggies Award Ceremony and Celebration and reviving our DEI offerings. Most excitingly, we’re relaunching our professional development series in March, providing fresh opportunities to sharpen our skills in an ever-changing media and business environment.

Things are shifting fast, but PRSA-SF is here to ensure that our profession evolves for the better—together. I invite you to join us, speak up, and take an active role in shaping the future of communications.

Here’s to a year of connection, learning, and impact.
